We are a privately run, 501(C)(3) Non-Profit Animal Shelter in Kirksville, Missouri. We are working to promote animal welfare through community awareness and responsible pet adoptions. We educate and promote spaying and neutering for all pets and provide financial assistance with our Prevent A Litter (PAL) Program. We help to place and care for our 2500 animals a year. Our goal is to provide homeless and unwanted pets with a safe environment, while trying to find them forever homes. We encourage potential pet owners to never buy from breeders or pet stores while so many homeless or unwanted animals sit in shelters, waiting for homes.

We are very fortunate to have many volunteers that come to the shelter to help with everything from cleaning cages to walking dogs. We have many unsocialized dogs and cats that are able to find homes due to the volunteers that spend time with them.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call (660) 665.8038 for our next scheduled orientation. All volunteers need to be 18 years of age.
If anyone is interested in helping with transporting any of our pets to Rescue Groups, please contact us at (660) 665.8038.
Thank you!

The dogs and cats have appreciated all of the extra attention and love. We are so fortunate to have so many great volunteers that so selflessly give their time and heart to help the animals at the shelter.
These hard economic times have hit everyone, including our areas homeless pets. Many families are making the difficult decision to find their beloved pet a new home because they have lost their jobs or homes. Everyone is familiar with these stories. They are common from coast to coast. What makes this story different? Here in the Heartland, our community has come together and made it their mission to help these pets. We have had schools, organizations, groups and individuals step forward to help in any way they can. Many are conducting collection drives, fundraisers, and spreading awareness about spaying and neutering pets. The response from the community has been overwhelming. Thank you to our wonderful community members that are so caring and thoughtful.
